As long as it is the same transmission (4L60E) in the donor vehicle and your truck they show the same part number. Aparantly they could have either a 4L60E (usually in the 1/2 ton vehicles) or 4L80E transmission (usually in the 3/4 ton vehicles).

They are basicly the same, except that the 700R4 is not electronicly controlled. (they will not interchange) As long as both the donor and the one he is replacing are 4L60E’s then they should interchange. The 1996 transmission DOES work. I didn’t have to change the PCM, repin the main connector or anything like that.

Cut the connector off the speed sensor from the van (on the driver’s side of the tailshaft) and splice in its place the one from the ’96 tranny (it will be on the passenger side). The wire colors should match. I was lucky, my donor tranny had the connector still attached.
