I fixed this by using one of those 9v system settings savers. I plugged it into the 12v receptacle where I had recently had my GPS connected in preparation to disconnect the battery. That action effectively fixed the “no key detected” problem. The rear tailgate opening button had not worked as well, and it was fixed too.
