What should the oil level be in a GM Truck?

It is supposedly only 2 quarts. And GM tells you that the proper oil level is 3/4 to 1.5 inches below the filler plug hole.

What should the oil pressure be on a Chevy engine?

The general rule for high-performance engine oil pressure is 10 pounds per square inch for every 1,000 rpm. Stock Chevy oil pumps have the pickup tube pressed into the pump body, and they have been known to fall out when subjected to the vibration of a high-RPM engine.

Where does the oil come from in a Chevy engine?

This Barnes four-stage pump has three scavenge sections that pull oil from the pan and pump it into the oil tank. The main oil supply line from the bottom of the tank feeds the pressure section at the rear of the pump, which supplies pressurized oil to an adapter bolted between the block and the oil filter.

Where does the oil hole line up in a camshaft?

Note: If the oil feed passage in the block or head is just a hole without a 360° groove, the bearing oil hole must line up with the oil feed passage in the block or head. In some instances, the bearing oil feed hole in the cam bearing also lines up with a groove cut in the camshaft journal.

You’re not going to be getting oil to the top end if the dist. isn’t in the engine. The oil comes up the back side of the engine from the filter and goes to two places, the left bank of lifters and to the dist. where it then goes to the right bank of lifters.

Where is the oil groove on a Dura Bond Bearing?

Blocks and heads using a 360° oil groove located behind the bearing oil feed, allow one to move the clock position of the cam bearing oil feed hole. This way you can adjust the clock position during cam bearing installation to make sure that the optimum location for the best hydrodynamic wedge is selected.

Why is there no oil at the top of the engine?

(Topic#192284) Hello again. Having an issue with not getting any oil to the top end. When we primed and ran the engine, it had excellent oil pressure. Don’t know how long the engine sat, but I know it has new bearings. Pulled the intake, pushrods and the lifters and didn’t see any oil going to the lifters, even in the rear two.
