What should I do if my hood is open on my Ford Focus?
Look for the electrical connector directly attached to the hood latch and make sure it’s still connected and the wires are not frayed or damaged. That would be the most obvious place to start.
Why are my electrical connections on my Ford Focus so bad?
Due to the fact these consisted of all flat connectors, they would work loose and/or start to wobble over time. This created a poor electrical connection due to a poor mechanical connection. As the connection deteriorated, it wobbled to the point where the connections would start to arc.
Why does the latch not release on my Ford Focus ST?
If you push down on the hood after pulling the cabin lever the latch will click into place, but the lever will no longer completely “release” the hood itself. If I pull up on the hood, I can see that the release cable is still connected to the yellow handle.
Do you need to replace plugs on Ford Focus?
Ford calls this a wiggle test, and it is still as good now as it was when it was named. If the dash now behaves properly or gets worse while wiggling, you have found the culprit. However, in many cases, you don’t need to replace the plug and connectors.
What to do if your Ford Focus has a wiring problem?
The repair splice will be stiffer than the original harness, and will resist flexing when the hatch is opened, thus shortening the life of the repair a great deal, and could cause even more problems with associated wiring. Instead, remove the damaged wire from the hatch hinge area, and replace it with a new wire.
Why is the hood latch on my Ford Focus not opening?
If I pull up on the hood, I can see that the release cable is still connected to the yellow handle. It’s got to be disconnected somewhere else so does 1) anyone have any ideas where to check/reattach the cable or 2) is there a way to manually force the hood latch itself to open?
Where are the electrical connectors on a Ford Focus?
If you recall, or even if you don’t, the older Fords have a three-wire electrical connector at the rear of the alternator that included the battery positive lead. Due to the fact these consisted of all flat connectors, they would work loose and/or start to wobble over time.
Where is the latch on the Ford Focus ST?
