What kind of noise does a Fiesta ST make?

After warming up (about 20 minutes driving with 100 km/h = 60 miles/h) my new 2014 Fiesta ST has a tapping/knocking noise coming from the engine. Once you rev the engine just a little bit the noise is gone but returns in a second. I found several cars in the www with the same problem.

Is there a difference in the ticking noise from the engine?

No there is no difference in the noise with or without the clutch pedal depressed. I don?t think it?s the direct injection because if we take down the drive belt the noise is gone !!! No there is no difference in the noise with or without the clutch pedal depressed.

When does the engine come on in a 2005 Fiesta?

I know this thread is very old but I have had my 2005 fiesta for a year now with this very same problem. It comes on about 10 seconds after starting, is worse when the engine is cold and is independent of revs except it seems to go above 1500 rpm.
