I have an ABS light on a 2007 Freestyle FWD after replacing a rear hub assembly last week. The code is C1299 “Left Rear Wheel Speed Signal Malfunction”. I will be replacing the cheap Duralast part I put in with a Moog on Monday, and will report back if that fixes it.

What does the traction control light on my Ford Freestyle mean?
Mine is truly kicking the traction control on and slowing down the vehicle. Mine has only happened from a complete stop and during a left and right hand turns. Very dangerous situation if you are expecting your vehicle to GO when you push on the gas and it just launches you out into traffic and almost stops.

How to troubleshoot the ABS light on Ford vans?
Check the brake fluid. If the fluid is below the fill level, sensors alert the main computer on the Ford van. This in turn lights up the ABS light (and possibly the main brake light as well). If your fluid is below the fill line, fill it to said line. Then repeat the three tests outlined in Step 1. If the problem persists, move to Step 2.
