What to do if power lift gate won’t latch?
The salesman checked with a service guy who suggested I open it fully, then gently close it, and then press to hold the door closed for a few seconds to see if the latch would engage. It didn’t.
Is there a way to close the lift gate?
That will at least close it so the interior lights do not stay on and the dash display telling you it is open. Yeah, the gate can also be operated manually and when closing manually it won’t electrically suck itself shut the rest of the way.
Why is the liftgate on my Jeep not closing?
Stop it from lowering so you can keep it open and at least use it at that less than fully open position and it will switch off and go into manual only mode. It won’t shut by any of the electrical options and you will have to manually shut it then also. All fixed from the dealer…contact issue.

Went to close it and nothing…tried it from the overhead button, rear button and key fob. Nothing. So I “closed” it manually and it will not latch/secure the tailgate. Tried to put it in reverse, then drive, then park and open/close…and it just stays open! :slapfight: Thoughts?
