The NSBU switch transmits selector position information to the TCM. The NSBU switch mounts directly onto the transmission housing, from the outside, and detects the angular position of the shift selector shaft. The PSM has the job of telling the TCM what gear the transmission is in based on hydraulic inputs.

Remove the 2 bolts that attach the NSBU switch (the front driveshaft will get in the way a bit but you should be able to access the bolt with the socket) and pull off the old NSBU switch. There’ll be some resistance when you pull it off.
