Vacuum operated heater control valve to open and close the flow of water in the heater system. The valve is opened with vacuum, it is normally closed. This is the most common valve on aftermarket heat and A/C evaporator units that use vacuum operated controls. The valve uses 5/8″ heater hoses, and 1/8″ vacuum tube.

Using starter fluid is the oldest trick in the book for finding a vacuum leak. With the engine idling, take your can and spray down the vacuum lines and listen for the engine’s idle to change. When you hear the motor come off idle, and rev up slightly, you have got your leak.

Where are the vacuum lines on a Ford?
The 2 lines under the hood stick into holes in the grommet…and on the backside, there are 2 vacuum lines attached that run to the controls on the dash. All you should have to do is stick the line that has become detached back in the hole in the grommet.
Where does the vacuum line go in a Ford firewall?

Where are the vacuum lines on an S-10?
The older S-10s had the vacuum lines from the dash to the engine. Those would crack easily. The line was routed along the driver’s side and entered under the brake booster if I remember correctly.
