What every commander deck should have?

What every commander deck should have?

After those five, I have five more that should start as part of every Commander deck you make.

  1. Sol Ring. If you have played Commander, you knew this card was going to be on a list of Super Staples.
  2. Solemn Simulacrum.
  3. Command Beacon.
  4. Chromatic Lantern.
  5. Command Tower.
  6. Cyclonic Rift.
  7. Swords to Plowshares.
  8. Demonic Tutor.

How many lands should a brawl deck have?

Do NOT Play Less Than 38 Lands When you start putting cards into your deck on Arena, the game automatically puts 34 lands in the deck.

How much ramp should an EDH deck have?

If you’re new to Magic or the Commander format, following this general guideline of 37 Lands and 7 ramp spells will get you up and running nicely.

Who invented EDH?

It started as a goofy casual format between friends, with only the original five Elder Dragons as generals and a variable life total depending on the number of players. Sheldon Menery, often referred to as the godfather of EDH, was responsible for bringing the format into the public eye.

Can any planeswalker be a Commander?

A planeswalker can be a commander if the card says that they can be a commander. Most planeswalkers cannot be a commander because the rules committee banned them from being commanders. However, Wizards makes planeswalker cards that can be commanders, so they are the exception.

Is brainstorm good in EDH?

Brainstorm is as good in this format as it is in Legacy, which means its proportional to the amount of shuffling you do. Impulse is a decent hand sculptor in a controlling deck, but it is not usually worth the deck slot in most of the decks I’ve made.

Is brawl historic or standard?

Historic Brawl is a singleton format meaning decks can only be built with single copies of cards. Legal cards are those currently in Historic sets. Your deck must also be built under the color identity of your selected Commander (any legendary creature or planeswalker from a Standard set).

What does edh stand for in magic gathering?

Commander, also called “EDH” (stands for “Elder Dragon Highlander,” an outdated in-joke), is the most popular format of the collectible trading card game Magic: The Gathering, counting over-all formats.

Are there any good edh cards for standard?

Unless your edh deck is specifically for 1v1 matches, cards like Thoughtseize, Duress, and Inuqisition of Kozilek don’t belong. Even cards like Blightning which is great in standard are completely underwhelming in multiplayer edh.

Which is the best discard in an EDH deck?

Identity Crisis is very good discard for edh as it not only takes out the entire hand, but also the graveyard which is a valuable resource in most edh decks (just make sure you’re ready to finish the player off after you hit him with it).

Can you use Hellspark elemental in an EDH deck?

Goblin Guide and Hellspark Elemental may be staples in Standard Aggro Decks, but in edh, you’re not trying to kill one person with 20 life, you’re trying to kill multiple opponents with 40 life. So using small aggro creatures like those in edh is usually a wasted card slot (unless they have particularly powerful synergy with the rest of the deck).
