It is possible to DIY but its worth the $150 to get it done with the right machine. unfortunately, vinny is right. these trucks don’t have filters anymore, it’s a screen that captures the junk. the only way to clear it is to have the truck serviced & flushed (backwards) to clear the screen.

What should the transmission temperature be in a Ford F-150?

Late model F-150s have the option to check transmission temperature from the information display. Temperatures between 170° and 200° are considered normal. Be sure to check your transmission fluid after driving around for a bit! Check your fluid level with the transmission dipstick after it’s warmed up.
