My buddys Dodge did the same thing 2 weeks ago. Started out as a drip, then a couple of days later, it was a full on pressurized stream that was leaking with the lever in both the open and closed position. He bought a replacement lever assenbly from the Dodge dealer, and the leak stopped.

I had a fuel leak on my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 from the wires in the top of the fuel filter housing. These 2 wires power the fuel heater inside the canister. I removed the canister & fuel filter, cut the wires, removed 3 torx screws, and pulled the heater element out.
Why is the diesel leaking out of the drain valve?
The orings in the valve are letting diesel seep out under pressure and it’s leaking out of the hose you attached. IF you remove that little pc of rubber hose that is attached to the drain valve and then has a metal tube attached to it, that you attached another rubber hose to. Tou will see that the fuel is leaking out of it.

Where does the fuel leak in a Dodge Ram come from?
After taking a break in a nearby casino to warm up and let the sun rise I begin to look for the source of the fuel leak. I was soon able to figure out that the source as the tube that runs between the common rail and the #4 injector. There appeared to be a crack in the tube very near the fitting on the injector.
