How to test no power to fuel pump?

How to test no power to fuel pump?

7. Pull the carpet around center console (under the radio; the circuit opening relay is bolted to the ECU bracket ( some models there is a black plastic cover around the connector side of ECU). Inspect or swap the relay Ok found the circuit opening relay.. how do i test it?

Why is the fuel pump relay not turning on?

The ECM controls the fuel pump relay and this relay will only energize when commanded on. Does the check engine light come on; if not, then the ECM is not turning on. Do all the other combination meter warning lights come on?

Why is the fuel pump not connected to the ECU?

The ECU does not control the fuel pump operation! If voltage readings are 3.5v without pump connected there is a high resistance somewhere in the feed or ground line. I strongly recommending you to seek Profesional assistance to solve this problem before something else is broken!

When to connect the B + Terminal to the fuel pump?

The B+ terminal in the diagnostic connector should only have power when the key is in the ‘On’ position. Also, the fuel pump will only receive power (when B+ and Fp are not connected) when the key is in the Start position or the AFM flapper door is open (air is flowing into the engine).

Can a fuel pump run if the ECU is not on?

Click to expand… It would be a good idea to check the wiring since you yanked on it. But if the pump is running thats all that matters at this point. The ECU doesn’t control fuel pressure so it’s not like you tripped some kind of electronic relief valve.

The ECM controls the fuel pump relay and this relay will only energize when commanded on. Does the check engine light come on; if not, then the ECM is not turning on. Do all the other combination meter warning lights come on?

Where is the test light on a fuel pump?

You should be able to find the wire near the fuel tank located in the wiring harness. Now, get a test light. Then you need to probe the wire. If the test light illuminates but there is no pressure, it means the pump is faulty. When the engine runs, the pressure will drop to 52 psi.

What happens if you tripped the fuel pump relay?

If the Inertia Switch has been tripped, it will ‘open’ the circuit and the voltage will not reach the fuel pump. As you can see, there’s really nothing complicated happening behind the scenes with the fuel pump relay and the way it activates the fuel pump when you turn the Key On and start cranking the engine.

What is the high current circuit on a fuel pump?

The high current circuit is the one that delivers the voltage (and thus current) to the fuel pump in the gas tank (or on the frame rail). When the fuel pump relay is off (not activating the fuel pump), the high current circuit is ‘open’.
