In a few Kubota tractor instruction videos, I’ve seen the instructor / salesman say that those plugs could be / should be ignited from 5 to 10 seconds, 10 seconds being the MAXIMUM in COLD weather.

With that being said, should you be igniting the glow plugs for even 5 seconds, if it’s summertime, and warm outside, and or if the engine has already been running 10 minutes or 30 mins earlier. I guess what I am also wondering is what really is the minimum amount of time you suggest igniting those glow plugs before cranking the engine ?

As this ‘indicator’ gets hot, its resistance GOES UP…. thus reducing the voltage to the glowplugs. This is a self-regulating circuit to protect the glowplugs.

How do you turn on glow plugs on B3030?
On my B3030 you turn the key on then turn it further without engaging the starter and that’s what feeds the current to the glow plugs. Is that what yours is supposed to do or does it have an “automatic function” that cycles the glow plugs based on the temperature?
Why is there no glow plug on my orange tractor?
You will need to pull the dash to get to the glow plug relay and check that it has power in and out, also check the fuses. Wolfman is right on, as usual. The GP controller is a common problem. That was my first part failure of any kind and happened around 1150 hours on mine. About $70 at the orange tractor dealer.
When is a no glow plug light bad?
If #30 has high amperage (larger wire) power in (constant hot) and NO low amperage power in (signal from #20) when key is turned on and no High power out to the GP’s then the controller #20 is bad. Remember this is all based on temperature of the tractor. You’re having a good day, bic!
