How do you mix Claire Bowman cake lace?
To make 100g of Cake Lace:
- Place 50ml of water into a food mixer.
- Add 4 tablespoons (42 grams) of Part A (powder)
- Mix on high for 2 minutes.
- Add half a teaspoon (2.5ml) of Part B (liquid)
- Mix on high for 5 to 8 minutes until the Cake Lace looks smooth.
How long does it take cake lace to set?
If leaving to set naturally without using an oven, most cake lace mixtures will need to be set overnight, taking up to 24 hours. To speed up the process, we’d recommend placing the filled mats into a warm oven for 10 mins at 80°C.
Can you Colour cake lace mix?
How do you colour Cake Lace? Cake Lace can be coloured with lustre dusts or gels. Rainbow Dust ProGels work well, but only add a small amount of gel so as not to change the consistency of the lace mixture which may prevent it from drying in the way you expect.
Can I put edible lace on buttercream?
Yes, you can use Cake Lace on buttercream but make sure it has crusted first. Just a little cooled boiled water or edible glue will stick lace to buttercream.
How long does sugar veil last?
White SugarVeil icing may be colored using powder for dark colors or gel or liquid for pastel to medium colors. Excess prepared icing may be covered with plastic wrap and refrigerated up to 10 days. When ready to use, let mixture reach room temperature and then beat for a minute prior to spreading.

Absolutely! We’ve used it on canvases and paper craft. It can still also be used on dummy cakes! Once the paint dries, it peels off just like Cake Lace and works wonderfully for crafting!
