How do you fill the gas tank in a Ford Escape?
I tried filling my 2004 Focus with the engine idling, but it has a solenoid valve in the vent line that stays closed when the engine is running. It would cut the nozzle off every couple seconds. I shut the engine off and it filled normally. I just wanted to remind everyone that this thread is for 2020 Escapes.
Why does my Ford Escape take so long to fill up?
As soon as I put the fuel nozzle into the opening, the nozzle clicked off. This happened several times, with no gas pumped at all. Finally, I had to put absolute minimum pressure on the nozzle in order to slowly fill my tank. It took forever to pump in 7 gallons. Is this a known problem with this vehicle? And is it likely the dealer can fix it?

Why does the gas pump on my Ford Escape keep turning off?
While filling it up from low/empty, it will turn off after 10 seconds or so of pumping. This has happened at several different stations. While at the Ford dealer for a power steering recall, they said it’s not a recall issue. 15 people found this helpful. We have two Ford hybrid Escapes and both have the same problem.
