i dunno if its the same as the 900’s, but if they have the auto transfer case and it is in auto mode, it will spin all the time even tho its not locked in. If it is in 2wd mode it wont spin. If you have it on Auto, the front shaft will spin. Other then that, I am not sure it should spin. At least thats how it is on the newer trucks. Thinking back I think I remember reading that the shaft will spin in 2wd on the older trucks. Not 100% on that. I am 100% sure that this reply did not help you…just thinking aloud.
