Does Rit dye fade?

Usually, things dyed in Rit fade very quickly in the wash. But with this stuff they fade much, much more slowly. Not perfect, still fades faster than a real-dyed thing that you bought already colored, but lasts more than 2x longer than a rit-dyed thing without using this stuff. Worth it.

How do you keep RIT from fading?

If you are dyeing cotton, linen, silk, wool, ramie or rayon, use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing, but before rinsing and laundering. For all other fibers, rinse the fabric in warm water to gradually cooler water until the water runs clear.

Salt. Add a tablespoon of salt to the wash, and the chloride will help our clothing pack a colorful punch when it comes out of the dryer. The reason? Chloride found in salt actually helps to seal the color in fabrics, thus keeping it from fading.

Enzymes are a biological solution and they can cut consumption of chemicals, water and energy for textile producers. Used for stone washing of jeans, the enzymes break off small fiber ends on the yarn surface, thereby loosening the dye so the jeans get that vintage look.
