Why is the rear door on my 2005 Ford Escape not opening?
I have a 2005 Ford Escape, and all of a sudden, the right rear door won’t open. The child lock isn’t on, and the outside door handle is loose, as in it doesn’t automatically retract back into the door. Basically if you pull it out, it will stay in the pulled out position until you push it back in.

Why is the hatch on my Escape SEL not opening?
The lift mechanism that is an integral part of the latch has failed ,it will have to be removed and replaced in order to get the hatch to open.

Why is the hatch on my Ford Escape not opening?
A belonging may be trapped in the lock mechanism or whether stripping near the latch. You may want to ask another person for help. You push inward onto the hatch, close to the latch. Have your helper activate the unlock mechanism and then you try to open the hatch.
Why does my Volvo XC90 rear hatch not open?
The door seal rubbers push back on the door surround putting a lot of tension against the grab/release mechanism preventing it from releasing. By pressing on the door and compressing the rubber surround you will take the pressure off the release mechanism and allow it to open when you pull on the handle.
