Why is my 2011 Ford F150 not cranking?
A bad connection or cable at the negative end would shut down the processor and cause the cranking problem at the same time. This is the only thing I can think of that would cause both at once, unless you have two different problems that happened to show up at the same time. My 2011 F-150 eco boost is stuck in 3rd gear.

Ha!! my 2014 F150 was doing the same thing. Some times it would start and some times all it would do is crank over. I just checked #27 fuse under the hood and sure enough, it had been getting hot and melting plastic over the connection on one side of the fuse. Guess that explains why sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldnt.

Can a Ford F150 drive without the engine running?
Without the engine running you won’t have any power assist for the steering or the brakes. And on these trucks the assist helps ALOT. If under warrenty send it to the dealer.
