I purchased a ford focus 1.6 tdci which has had a stupid amount of work done to it and now is time to get rid. The problem is the engine management light stays on and was going to purchase a code reader to save expense and dont know which one to buy off ebay as there are lots of different ones.

When does the engine malfunction warning light go out?

I tend not to take too much notice of the engine malfunction light, if the light goes out when you restart the engine, no problem. It’s only when the light stays on persistently you need to worry.
