When the engine is running vacuum keeps the headlight doors closed. When you turn on your headlight switch it sends vacuum through the small hose to the end of the actuator valve……….which then shifts the spool inside and re-routes the vacuum to the other side of the headlight pots.

What to do when your headlight pop up?
Try this…..go into the DIC settings and turn the twilight function on. That is, let the light level and the computer turn the lights on. If the lights flip up without a problem then its the switch I have some experience with scary lookin holes. Ya, be sure it’s the gears before you haul off and order new ones. Suck it up, Buttercup!
