As luck would have it, gas is leaking from the top front end of the main gas tank. Truck is an ’02 Avalanche, 2500 series with the 8.1 liter engine. Apparently this is a common issue with the GMT800 truck.

That being said, I was down on the ground under the truck with the engine running and it still sounds smooth as silk. These 4.3L engines are pretty solid and built like tanks so I want to keep it that way. I did change the oil lines a while back and don’t see oil leaking from them.
