Why does my car make a humming whirring sound?

2 days ago, loud humming/whirring sound started coming from the rear end of the car. The sound increased as I went above 55-60mph. It feels as if something is rotating fast, like a fan but super quiet fan. Below 30mph, its quiet as normal. I was planning to replace rear diff oil coming spring, so it has not been touched at all.

Why does my car make a noise when I go over 20 mph?

The noise goes away though at speeds above 20 MPH. After a thorough inspection, I noticed that my rear rotors developed a slight lip at the inner and outer edges. The noise is caused when the edges of the inner brake pads hit the lips of the rotors.

Why does my Mazda 3 make a humming noise?

I have a 2006 Mazda 3 that had the same problem right after I replaced the rear brake pads but retained the original rotors. After about a week, it developed a humming noise at low speeds, similar to the sound when you rub a wet finger on the rim of a wine glass.

Why is the wheel bearing on my Toyota humming?

It’s very strange that a wheel bearing on a Toyota with only 23k miles on it would be failing anyway unless there is a history behind it such as being underwater at some point. If not the bearing there’s always the possibility of tire tread noise or to a lesser extent; an exhaust system hum.

Why does my car make a knocking noise?

Note that if there is an uneven air-fuel ration in the cylinder, combustion can happen at higher or lower rates than normal. A higher pressure in the cylinder can make the engine to sound louder than normal or even produce a knocking sound. However, if you don’t solve this problem, it can lead to your car engine been damaged.
