Which is better an engine that never sees 5000 rpm?

Which is better an engine that never sees 5000 rpm?

I still believe that an engine that never sees 5000 Rpm will last longer than one that often sees 5000 rpm. Oh I know that engines are better than they used to be, but high rpm is not good for an engine. I also know that I’ll get a lot of disagreement about this.

Can you run a car up to 6, 000 rpm?

If the engine were operating properly and properly maintained, running it up between 5,000 and 6,000 during acceleration would be no problem whatsoever. But you do not have an engine operating properly. You have an engine with unknown problems.

If I owned a Subaru with 170K miles on it I would be afraid to take it much over 3500 RPM. Why does my car cut out at 3500 rpm?

Tromp on it and she’s a tire shredding beast, untill it starts getting to 3500+ rpm, not so bad in 1st gear but 2nd is worse and 3rd is real bad. Damn thing starts cutting out/sputtering have to let off. Have checked the timing, spot on 38* all the way.

Why does my car idle at 700 rpm?

There is an air filter which prevents debris from the air from getting into the chamber. But if this air filter is dirty or clogged, then there will be less clean air passing through it. This will cause the engine to idle rough. Your engine should normally get to around 700 RPM after you start the vehicle.

Can a car go over 3, 000 RPMs?

Mine WILL rev over 3,000 RPM’s – it just starts coughing at 85 mph and shuts down at about 90 mph. I found that out the first time I got mad at an old woman doing 25 mph on the highway and passed her. 6,000 RPM’s when it downshifted, in nothing flat! Probably a good thing it shuts down at 90 mph, too, since it gets a bit squirrelly at that speed!
