The sensor is mounted in contact with the inside of the windshield, near the rearview mirror. The sensor projects infrared light into the windshield at a 45-degree angle. If the glass is dry, most of this light is reflected back into the sensor by the front of the windshield.

Why are my wipers not working in the rain?
Since your wipers don´t go into low speed continuous mode, it seems that the rain sensing module is working, but not sending a wipe command. Check if the infrared sensors from the rain sensing module are clean and no obstacles are in their way (like a sticker or such). They work!

If it does get a signal, it waits for a wipe command from the rain sensing module. Since your wipers don´t go into low speed continuous mode, it seems that the rain sensing module is working, but not sending a wipe command.
