The best way to check both would be with a good volt ohm meter, the switch will be open when not in reverse and closed when in reverse that’s where I would start anyway

I spent way to long figuring this out when i did it on our platinum. what i ended up having to do was use the reverse light 12v+ as the signal wire with a relay. Yah you have to wire everything in with a relay on these new trucks and either keep the existing load in the circuit or wire in a resister.
