What to do if your Ford Ranger starts hard?

What to do if your Ford Ranger starts hard?

Run the negative between the block and battery. Then connect the positive up, and touch it to the starter side of the solenoid. If you are jumping it correctly and nothing is happening check to make sure your starter is tight, and the mating surface between the starter and block are clean. I have seen oil leaks make for a hard start some times.

Why is my Ford Ranger making a clunking sound?

Meaning if you are having problems with bad bearings in your starter it wont show up there. I would pull the starter again, and hold the gear in the nose, and shake it. If you hear a clunking sound, its not a good sound. You need to replace that starter, the bearings have gone bad.

When does Ford Ranger 3.0 clear its self?

Its hard to say when it happens (cold or warm) i believe more warm then anything, it starts acting likes a cylinder is not firing (or more cant tell). it does clear its self after about a minute or two at normal idle, if i rev the engine to 4k – 5k it clears instantly. I have no check engine light or codes, i have checked when it happens.

Is the Ford Ranger 4.0L hard to start?

My beloved, super-dependable 1998 Ranger 4.0L has suddenly become very hard to start and will only run with pressure on the accelerator. It has had a couple of hard start moments over the last few months (temperature independent), but nothing consistent enough to be a clear problem.

Why does my 2008 Ford Ranger not start?

We purchased a 2008 Ford Ranger 3 months ago, everything was good until it got cold outside. As soon as the temperature is around 0% C. the truck turns over but won’t start. (usually have to try 3-4 times before it finally starts, then runs well, as soon as the engine gets cold, same thing, won’t start)

How does a cold start work on a Ford Ranger?

One sensor drives the temp guage. The other sensor tells the computer that it is a ‘cold start’ and changes the gas delivery – basically I think this means it delivers more gas by keeping the injectors open for a longer time.
