What kind of engine does an Itasca Phasar use?
The Renault J7T engine used in these motorhomes is well known for it’s reliability. The key to these engines is maintenance. Oil must be changed, valves must be adjusted, etc. The weakest link is the auto transmission w/final drive (differential). They have to be maintained and driven wisely…shifting manually before it’s lugging it’s A– off.
Why is there oil on top of my radiator?
Since oil is lighter than water most of the oil in your cooling system will float to the top of your radiator or coolant overflow tank. If you see an oil slick floating on your coolant it’s important to clean out your cooling system to make sure your engine doesn’t overheat.

What does it mean when your Radiator is leaking coolant?
