How do I keep my Flathead cool?

Armed with a pair of new pumps and proper belt contact on each pulley, your Flathead motor will be well on its way to running cool. Since these pumps are designed to use a belt with a center-mounted generator it is best to mount the generator or alternator close to the stock position to ensure proper belt contact.

What’s the bad thing about a Plymouth six cylinder engine?

I always heard, in the day, That the bad thing about Plymouth/Dodge six cylinder engines is that the oil line from the main gallery is drilled straight through. So as much oil goes to the cam bearings as the mains and rods. The fix is to tap the feed to the cam and install a restriction. Maybe with a 1/16 hole.

How to troubleshoot a Chrysler Windsor flathead 6?

Here’s the situation: I have a 1949 Chrysler Windsor with the original 251 Flathead 6. The motor was seized, so I disassembled it, rebuilt it, got it to turn over freely, etc. Well, I cannot seem to get any spark to get it to fire up. I have replaced the coil, points, condenser, etc, all to no avail. Any ideas where I may be going wrong?

How big are the Pistons on a Chrysler flathead 6?

Incidentally you can easily bore this block to 3 7/16 which was standard bore size on later versions and use stock, standard size pistons. This gives you a 250 cu in engine like postwar Chrysler and DeSoto and many Dodge trucks.
