What is LLY motor?

LLY. The LLY (internally called the 8GF1) (engine code “2”) is a 6.6 L; 403.9 cu in (6,619 cc) turbocharged engine which debuted in mid-2004 and continued until the end of 2005. It is a 32-valve design with high-pressure common-rail direct injection and aluminum cylinder heads.

Are there any problems with the LLY engine?

However, there are a number of new issues that have arisen due to the changes, and a number of shared problems with the LB7. Additionally, 2006 LLY models are very comparable to the LBZ engine, creating a number of overlapping common problems there as well.

Why is the LLY engine cooler than the LB7?

Several factors contribute to this engine inherently running warmer than its LB7 predecessor (or the engines that followed it), one of which is the fact that LLY-powered GMs came equipped with the smallest radiator ever offered in front of a Duramax (yet had an additional component to cool it in the form of the EGR cooler).

How many miles does a LLY Duramax engine get?

With that being said, the block and internals on the LLY Duramax have stood the test of time and can easily surpass the 300,000 mile marker. With common and consistent maintenance, these engines are superbly reliable, especially when left in stock form.

What’s the difference between a lly and a LBZ?

Both ’06 and ’07 will have 6 speed Allison. Found an ’06 I like, but it has the LLY (“2” code ?) motor. They’re exactly the same, mechanically speaking. Only difference is the tune – the LBZ’s obviously have a more aggressive one. EFI live or any real tuner can fix it easily.
