The side repeater can be found on the side of the vehicle or on the wing mirror unit, it is a way of notifying other road users of your intentions of turning left or right. This will allow other users and yourself to remain safe. The side repeater may be known as an indicator for this reason.

I returned to my car in a near empty car park the other day to find that someone had driven into it. Fortuneately damage is limited to the rear of the drivers side wing although it looks like a wing off job. However, the main point of impact was the repeater.
