What happens when I put a 4Lo in a 4HI?
When I put it in 4Hi from 4Lo the 4Hi light will stay on, but the front axle isn’t engaged. And Sometimes… It wont transfer the power, like it is in Neutral, except there isn’t a Neutral setting.
Can a 4×4 truck shift into a 4HI?
Only it’s a 1996 S10 4wd pickup. the truck will shift into 4hi but will not engage. I’ve tried unplugging the Transfer case control module but that did not work. Any suggestions anyone? Alrighty, I took my truck into school today to try figure out the problem.

It was the encoder motor. take off the motor on the t-case,,,,have someone turn on the 4×4 hi, lo, 2wd and see if the motor moves. I’m 99% sure it is the motor on the transfer case. When the lights on the dash flash, its the motor.
