What does it mean when your truck says Range shift inhibited?

What does it mean when your truck says Range shift inhibited?

Shift range inhibited occurs when the input shaft is still turning at a standstill. ( No geartrain pull down ) The TCM will not command a gear unless the clutches that should be released are not, and the clutches that need to apply are not applied.

Why does my Duramax say range shift inhibited?

NSBU connecters are very well sealed form the factory. they have silcone inside the connector. they are very hard to disconnect. you could have bend or kinked shift linkage. I have replaced the NSBU switch, filled the transmission fluid, and it is still blinking the “Range Shift Inhibited” when I shift into Reverse.

Are there shift inhibits based on engine speed?

There are shift inhibits that are based on input speed (ie – if you’re over XXX rpm engine speed and drop to into gear, you’ll be inhibited). Output speed should not inhibit your shift to range – you could be going 100, and shifting to range should put you into the correct range for that output speed.

Is there such thing as shift range inhibited?

I cannot find this particular issue on the threads, this is NOT “SHIFT RANGE INHIBITED” message but maybe someone here can tell me if related. Yesterday I pulled out of my driveway which exits onto a downhill. I was at Idle, and had inadvertently missed D and was instead in N.

Why is my shift inhibited neutral not working?

It could be that you didn’t see the expected turbine speed pull down, or that output speed was too high when range was selected.

Why does my durmax truck say range shift inhibited?

I am hoping someone will have an answer to what is going on with my 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Durmax truck. When I go to shift into gear (reverse or drive) on the dash a message appears “Range Shift Inhibited,” and the truck does not engage into gear. I have to put it back into park and shift into gear again.
