What does it mean when your car is idle to high?
In modern vehicles, engine idle speed is most often controlled by the idle air control (IAC) motor. When your car’s throttle is malfunctioning, this can cause your car to stall or idle high. Often this is a result of dirt buildup in the air intake. Other times it can be a problem with a cracked intake tube.

Is it normal to have a high idle RPM?
It is normal. You’ll notice that after the engine has warmed up the idle is back down to 800ish rpm. I wish it did! Unfortunately, even if I have been driving the car for a while and the temp gage says that the engine has warmed up, the car still idles high and the rpms still jump back up to 2000+ once I put the car in park.
