What does a stator pulse pickup coil do?
What does a stator pulse pickup coil do?
The pick-up coil is mounted very close to those bumps and generates a small pulse every time one of them passes underneath it. The pulse is generated in the coil by the magnet in its center and is sent directly to the CDI box. From there, the CDI will determine when to fire the spark plug.
What will a bad pickup coil do?
A pickup coil that has failed, or is about to, may also cause engine stalling and an inability to accelerate smoothly because the fuel injectors are not firing properly. Once stalled, the vehicle will not be able to start again until the engine has completely cooled.
What does a stator pickup do?
All the stator does is charge the battery. It does nothing for spark. The pickup coil sends an electrical signal to the CDI. This signal is generated when 2 magnets on the flywheel pass by the pickup coil contact.
How to do a custom rebuild on a stator?
Call us at 603-329-9901 to inquire about a custom rebuild on your old stator. *Please note that any piece listed as “ 20-custom ” requires you to send your core to us. That is a custom stator rebuild job and we will need your old stator part to rebuild it. We back our stators with a one year warranty.
What happens if you don’t have a stator coil?
The stator coil generates the power for the spark plug and other accessories on small engines Without a stator there would be no spark at all, meaning the engine won’t run. While a stator is dying, it can produce a weak spark, causing the engine to miss or run poorly. Symptoms are often worsened as the engine warms up.
How does the new Rick’s stator plug in?
The new Rick’s stator leads eliminated that intermediate connector and plugs directly into the regulator via the extra length leads that came on the Rick’s stator. Great forethought on Rick’s part! The new Rick’s works wonderfully and much better than the original ever did. Rock solid performance. It fit right in, no mods needed.
How to test and Gap a stator pick up pulsar coil / pickup?
Testing a stator trigger coil specifications of 250 ohms and 500 ohms and learning how to gap the pick up pulsar coil with the flywheel properly to obtain higher signal, using a multi-meter and a peak volt meter. 250 ohms & 500 ohms pick-up coils are pretty much standard in magnetos systems and covers many models from many makes.

When to buy a new stator for your engine?
I devised this system when the stator on my Honda XR-100 got so weak that it couldn’t power the spark plug, preventing the engine from running. The stator on my model happened to be discontinued, and I didn’t want to buy a used one for over $100 when this particular stator is known for being weak and prone to failure.
Where do you put the wire for a new stator?
The wire marked red (coming from the engine) in the diagram is going to attach directly to the contact breaker points. There should already be a wire connected to the breaker points right where we need to put the new one. You need to remove that old wire and put the wire for the new system RIGHT WHERE THE OLD ONE WAS.
