What did the gas gauge say about my car?

Gas Gauge still showed just under 1/4 tank. Towed it in to the dealer and they said I was out of gas. They dropped the tank and replaced the fuel sensor. I got down below a 1/4 tank again a couple of days ago and the engine quit again.
