Can a solenoid fail on an EcoBoost engine?

Apparently the dealer has never known this solenoid to fail, but they have had to change a couple of oil pumps on Ecoboosts in the last couple of months – apparently without needing other major surgery on the engine. So if the solenoid doesn’t cure it, then I have one last port of call before looking for a new engine.

Can a high engine speed cause low oil pressure?

High engine speeds can cause faster than normal wear on crankshaft bearings, especially if combined with low-quality engine oils and longer than specified intervals in between oil changes.

How often should you change the oil in a Ford EcoBoost?

The IOLM monitors engine use and tells you when to change the oil. The oil change interval can be up to one year or a maximum of 10,000 miles. But the range is 7,500 at the low end and 10,000 at the high end. HOWEVER, that’s for “normal” driving which most drivers DO NOT DO.

Why is my Ford EcoBoost engine not working?

Actual shop experience shows that following the normal oil change intervals of 10,000 miles between changes is causing excessive timing chain wear (up to 1.5″ stretch), turbo bearing failure and excessive camshaft wear on the square lobe that runs the high-pressure fuel pump.
