I know the original post is a very old post but it was exactly the same issue that was driving me crazy with my 2005 Colorado. I replaced only the electrical portion of the ignition switch and followed the “relearn” procedures for the replacement switch and the phantom electrical issue has not happened since.

I followed the advice given, that is removing the negative battery cable and holding it against the positive terminal on the battery for 30 seconds to completely discharge the BCM (body control module) and waiting 6 hours then reconnecting the battery cable.
