I have a 2013 Explorer Limited. Sunroof and the panoramic glass behind. The sunroof is open about 3″ and won’t open or close. There is no sound when operating the open/close switch. I’m not sure of this: I don’t think I or anyone attempted to operate the sunroof to open or close prior to stopping in this open position.
