My 04 silverado starts off cold on both sides then sometimes the driver side vents will blow hot air. when we stop and turn off truck and start it up and it is fine again. Could it be the thermostat for that side not working??? anyone have any answers for this problem?

I have heard of that issue on another acadia also. There are a few things you can do. Try turning the temperature control of rear system and see if it blows hot air when you turn it to full hot position. If that works, please reply back and there is a quick diagnosis that you can do to figure out the problem.

It sounds like your blower motor or fan is damaged. The noise you heard was probably the fan blades hitting the side of your ventilation ducts and it suddenly stopped when either the motor failed or the fan finally got stuck. Replacing the blower motor and possibly fan should get you back to having AC!
