Is the def quality on a 2011 LML bad?
Is the def quality on a 2011 LML bad?
The ‘DEF quality’ fault was very common on 2011 lml’s. However, with 100’s of trucks that have been posted about on the forums, rarely, if ever, has some reported that the dealer actually tested the def and found it to be bad. Yes there is a (cheap) device to test it.
Why do I get a Def poor message?
Def poor seems to be an uncommon message now, with the new sensors in the LML’s and presumably an updated sensor in the L5P. But there are many many threads about the def poor message. Few, if any, tested the def and found it was really the problem.
Are there any major problems with the LML engine?
The buzzkill of the LML is the CP4.2 injection pump. Outside of this problem, there aren’t many major or costly common problems associated with the engine. Fortunately, there are some relatively simple ways to prevent these issues and make them less common.
Are there any problems with the DEF system?
The whole DEF system is flawed and you will only get a temporary bandaid repair at the dealership. The DURAMAX is UNRELIABLE. IN MY OPINION IT IS ALSO UNSAFE AT THE REDUCED SPEED OF 55 MPH THEN 4 MPH. IT MAY BE A GOVERNMENT MANDATE, BUT IT IS A CHEVY DESIGN. I hope I have informed others of what pain and problems I have had.
When did I add Def to my LML?
2013 LML about 4500 miles. Exhaust fluid was showing 22%, I got 3 gallons of def from dealer and added it and percentage did not reset. I seem to have miss placed the diesel supplement of my manual so thought I’d ask you guys here. Thanks! I just added 2.5Gal for my LML. First DEF added in 5300 Miles.

How does the def quality warning system work?
“To meet federal and state requirements, the electronic onboard warning system is designed to automatically monitor DEF quality. If poor-quality fluid is detected, the system will alert the driver. If poor-quality fluid is not replaced within 200 miles, the vehicle speed will be limited to 55 mph at the next vehicle start.
Is there a way to reset Def level?
I be had a 13,15,and now16 and never had problem until 16 I started filling def while idiling. Blew computers mind, had to take it to dealer to clear and reset and informed me to always shut it off. It helps sensors reset and register the def level quicker. Haven’t had a problem since, but with 15 a couple times it took several trips to reset.
