How many CC does a Power Pack head have?
The “power pack” heads have 58 CC combustion chambers, and smaller valves than later heads. They were used on high-performance models of the 265 and 283 engines, and were also used on the standard 195-horse 2-barrel 283’s in the later years of that engine. Do you need big valve heads for a mega Cam?
You need big valve heads to make any power along with a mega cam to kill any low speed power. But that’s ok because you’re running 4.88 gears. That should make a nice little street engine. How big does a Stovebolt Power Pack head need to be?
The combustion chamber will open up enough to accept 1.94″ intake vales, and possibly 1.6″ exhausts, but they don’t have the hardened valve seats that the later heads were equipped with. With a flat-top piston, they will make 11:1 compression on a 350 engine, but would run out of breath at high RPM unless the valves and ports were enlarged.
