How does the throttle position sensor work on a Durango?
How does the throttle position sensor work on a Durango?
By monitoring the voltage on the signal line, the PCM calculates throttle position. As the throttle va… The code that flashes is P0121 it is a 2000 Durango engine 4. 7 and I believe it has had a tune up but I made an appointment for wednesday to have it weatherized because we live in MN and its freezing here!!
How does the p0123 throttle position sensor work?
The TPS sends the throttle position information back to the PCM on this signal wire. When the throttle is closed the signal is near .45 volts. At WOT (Wide Open Throttle) the TPS signal voltage will approach a full 5 volts. When the PCM sees a voltage that is higher than the normal upper limit, P0123 will set.
What is the return voltage of the TP sensor?
There are three wires attached to the TPS: power, ground and signal. Power, or reference voltage, goes into the TPS. The sensor then sends a return signal voltage to the PCM. The return voltage depends on throttle positon. Typically, the signal value at idle will be about .45 volts.

Why does my Wrangler have a p0123 code?
Im working on a friends 1999 wrangler with the 4.0 6 cylinder. I read the resistance of the tps through the operating range and the voltage through the range and it seems to be in spec. The TPS show 15.7% duty at no throttle. Im thinking that the p0123 code is due to a short in the harness/connecter…
When does a TPS sensor indicate a problem?
If the voltage spikes or is too high (over 4.65 volts with key on, engine off), then that is indicative of a problem. Carefully trace each wire from the TPS wiring harness to check for breaks, rubbing against other components, etc. Other TPS sensor and circuit related DTCs: P0120, P0121, P0122, P0123, P0124
