How does the Race for Life work?
Race for Life is a series of fundraising events, organised by charity Cancer Research UK. They involve running, jogging or walking a 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre or ‘Pretty Muddy’ course and raising sponsorship for doing so. The money raises funds for cancer research in all 200 types of cancer.
Do you have to wear pink for Race for Life?
That’s why we’re proud to support Cancer Research UK in calling upon the public to pull on their trainers, wear pink and take part in Race for Life 2021 to help raise money for research into all 200 types of cancer.
Do men take part in Race for Life?
Race for Life started 26 years ago as a women-only event. In 2019, for the first time, the Race for Life opened its doors to men to participate too, making it a truly inclusive event, giving people the chance to come together with their family and friends, and join the movement to beat cancer.
How long does the race for life take?
5k is our most popular event. At just over 3 miles, it’s about the same length as a Sunday stroll in the countryside. Remember, our events are entirely non-competitive, you won’t be timed and most people who take part walk.
Do you have to raise money for Race for Life?
How much does it cost to take part? A Very 2020 Race for Life is free! All we ask is that you donate what you can or fundraise on your Giving Page.
Is Race for Life timed?
Yes the event will be chip timed. For the full and half marathon event you will receive your chip already attached to the back of your running number – you do not need to do anything. The chip will record you as you cross the start and finish as well as at various points on the course when you run over a timing mat.
Can my dog do Race for Life?
Race for Life 3k, 5k & 10k participants can take part with their dogs at a wide selection of venues. However, participants in Race for Life Pretty Muddy Events cannot take part with dogs.
How is Race for Life successful?
Race for life has been so successful for so long because innovation is at its heart – it doesn’t stand still. This innovation seeks to make the event as inspiring and supportive for all the women who take part by giving them the opportunity to take their stand against cancer.
Can I change my Race for Life date?
Changes and Last Minute Arrangements Once registered, you can only transfer to another Event or (in the case of Race for Life Pretty Muddy Events) start time with our permission.
Can I take my dog on Race for Life?
We allow participants to take part with their dogs at some of our events. However, we would ask that you be a responsible dog owner when bringing your pet to a the Race for Life event, and make sure you bring water to keep your pet hydrated.
Can you walk in the Race for Life?
You can take part in a Very 2020 Race for Life by walking, jogging or running a 5k from your home on Saturday 26 September. All you need to do is complete your 5k on Saturday September 26th and make a donation or fundraise on your Giving Page.

How do you redeem race for life vouchers?
1. Vouchers will not be eligible for refund, extension or transfer once the period of validity has passed. 2. Vouchers may be redeemed for Events on the Race for Life website, or by or calling the Race for Life hotline number given at the top of these Rules until the deadline stated on the voucher.
Do you have to pay for race for life?
4. Entry fees for each Event are as set out on the Race for Life website at the time of purchase unless a sales promotion is taking place, or a promotional or corporate voucher is used which covers all or some of the entry fee. This fee contributes towards the costs of staging the Event. 5.
