With the vehicle off. Pump the brakes a few times until hard. Hold your foot on the brake, start the vehicle, if the padal moves down after started then the booster is ok. Check the pipe from the vacuum pump to the booster. Take the pipe off the back of the vacuum pump and try and draw a vacuum with your mouth. You will feel if there is a leak.

Talking on my bakkie,from the back of the alternator is a small pump that leads into the booster,also tapped off the booster is a pipe that T- off to my difflock solinoide under my drivers seat.
