According to the Hoover website, the FloorMate works best with the line of specialty cleaners they sell to be used with it. Its line of products does contain a natural floor cleaner as well as a traditional hard floor cleaner.
How long does a Hoover FloorMate last?
This model has lasted at least 8 years and isn’t completely gone yet but on its last leg.
Why is my Hoover FloorMate not picking up water?
Brushes Clogged Turn the unit on its side and check the brushes surrounding the uptake pipe. These brushes may become clogged with debris such as pet hair and in turn clog the uptake pipe, cutting off suction. Remove the obstruction and the FloorMate should work again.
Can I use Dawn in my Hoover FloorMate?
Pour 2 to 4 oz.. of Dawn into 1 Qt. container of Ammonia and mix well. Then add 3 or 4 oz.. of this solution to pail of hot water. The Hoover FloorMate Deluxe is good because it DOES suck up the dirty water from the floor rather than leaving dirty water just sitting there.
Can I use simple green in my Hoover FloorMate?
Answer: Yes I have used simple green all purpose cleaning I bought from lowes in the machine. It is non toxic and worked great in the machine.
Can I use the Hoover FloorMate on carpet?
Answer: No. Had to look up the manual online as mine didn’t come with one, but in the manual it says “For use on bare floors or sealed wood floors. NOT for use on carpets.”

No, it does not clean rugs it strictly for bare wood floors.

Why wont my FloorMate turn on?
If your Hoover FloorMate doesn’t power up, make sure it’s plugged all the way into the wall and check its fuses. Cleaning solution should dispense easily from your FloorMate. If it doesn’t, make sure the solution tank is full before placing the appliance in wet-clean mode. Refill the tank as needed.
