On your way to Gnoorea Point visit Miaree Pool, approximately 30 kilometres south of Karratha off the North-West Coastal Highway. This is a popular and pretty swimming hole on the Maitland River with shaded picnic tables and a 24-hour rest area. Miaree Pool is also a good fishing spot.

Karratha visitor centre was fairly new and had lots of information. Staff were very helpful. We went to Karratha not expecting too much but in the end found it a terrific place to visit with lots to do.
