Called out Ford Assist which is AA really. They jump started battery checked it over and found that the USB stick was using 2 amps up even when ignition was off and car was locked up.

He has a very down to earth procedure to check this parasitic drain. The critical thing seems to be to allow the car’s system to ‘go to sleep’ and this can take in the order of 20 minutes or so.

Even went so far as to put a 10 watt solar panel on rear deck to keep it charged . Disconnect both battery leads and then clamp them together for 15 minutes at minimum . this will drain all the capacitors in the vehicle and reset everything .
