Why does the door light stay on when the door is closed?

Btw, I checked each door jam’s little arm and button and tried pushing them in while the door was open but the light on the dash still stayed on. Sounds like a bad door switch, probably your drivers side since that gets used most often. Pull the switch and check the continuity with it in the open and closed position.

Took vehicle to Nissan dealership, they looked at driver door and noticed dents on door frame where the door contacts the activator switch, dents were caused by closing door on seatbelt, we filled dented area in with tape and it corrected the problem immediately…. maybe this could be your problem also……..
